Connie Raz, Ambassador
Born and raised in the Philippines, Connie Raz migrated to Canada in 1997 and established herself within the community as dedicated volunteer and servant leader. She has worked as a Training Specialist at the Calgary International Airport security pre-board screening for 14 years. She journeyed her way to become an independent Financial Advisor to have more control of her time and ultimately establish herself as an entrepreneur.
Through the years, Connie devoted her life serving God in the Church and the community. Her love and service for God has been the main reason why she continues to serve and is a big reason behind her heart for community service. She had the privilege to serve as President of the Filipino Catholic Society of the Diocese of Calgary, a charitable organization whose primary mission is to raise funds to support and sustain poor seminarians and orphanages back in the Philippines, while also providing food hampers and essentials to those in need here in Calgary. She advocates for the empowerment of women and was a founding member and past President of the Filipina Canadian Organization known as BABAE: Council of Filipina Canadian Women. She currently sits on the Board of the Philippine Festival Council of Alberta (PFCA) one of Alberta’s largest ethno-cultural festivals that celebrates the diversity and the contributions of the Filipino Communities in Alberta known as Fiesta Filipino. She is also currently serving as member of the board and Chair of Audit Committee of the Filipino Canadian Women Credit Cooperative the Filipino (FCWC). Despite her busy schedule, she still manages to offer her time and energy serving as the Volunteer Resource Coordinator of Ascension Catholic Parish.
Her greatest joy and fulfillment in life is being able to share her time, talent, and resources when they are needed. She lives each day with these beautiful lines by an anonymous writer. They remind her always of what life is all about -
“I shall pass through this world but once,
If, therefore, there be any kindness I can show,
Or any good thing I can do,
Let me not defer, or neglect it,
For I shall not pass this way again.”
